Oelßner Hof Leipzig: Architecture and structural design

New building Oelßners Hof in Leipzig

Project details

In 2004, the Sauter family acquired an old fur trade arcade in the centre of Leipzig near the Nikolaikirche. The old building was completely demolished with the exception of the two frontal parts of the building with the sandstone facades. The result is a seven-storey residential and commercial building with a beautiful shopping arcade.

The total usable area is approx. 26,000 square metres. On the adjoining corner property, the Thorer Eck, a multi-storey car park with 200 parking spaces was built above the shop floor. The façade had to be adapted to the streetscape of the surrounding commercial buildings so that the use is not visible from the outside. SCHUSTER engineering carried out the complete architecture including structural design for the very demanding project, which was completed in 2015.
